Nice to be back to winning ways as our first half performance was ultimately decisive in the outcome.

We never really let our opponents in to the game as we controlled possession with some nice passing and kept the Whitstable defence on their toes making several chances.  Our pressure finally told as Les set up Kev who finished with a crisp drive, Les was busy and his movement allowed Kev to put us two up with a deflected effort wrong footing the away keeper.  Les was next to be rewarded for his fine first half display getting the third. It could have been four but Jim’s long range effort was disallowed for being too high as it deflected off the passing International Space Station on the way to the net, very harsh!

So three up at the break with one of our best halves of football for some time.

The second half was much tighter as Whitstable pushed us back and tightened up in defence, we did have a couple of good chances as their keeper made excellent saves to deny Tony and Kevin. They are a well organised team as they kept their shape and made it difficult for us to attack. As we struggled to replicate our first half performance we were forced to defend free kicks around our goal, fortunately our defence held firm and on the odd occasion they hit the target Lawrence as ever was on good form.

All in all a very good all round team performance with everyone playing their part.  So on to Woodchurch next week who currently sit top of the league, an unknown quantity as we have never played them before although we are familiar with the pitch.  Onwards and upwards for the Strollers as we look to build on today’s excellent performance and result.

Thanks yet again to Chris Smith for controlling the game which was played competitively but fairly.
