This was Bay City’s first away match and fourth of the season, against the national cup winners.

Having previously played a couple of friendlies against Range Rovers, we knew it was going to be a tough game.

We also welcomed Paul on is debut with Bay City.

Range Rovers started off strong and kept us pinned back in our own half for a good 10 minutes, and continuously pressured us with a barrage of shots which never looked like troubling our captain and stand in keeper Dave.

Once we found our bearings and established Range Rovers style of play, we managed to push forward and launch our own attacks with Jason and Pete firing in some good shots to test their keeper.

After 15 minutes Pat had to be subbed having pulled up with a groin injury, so, on came Danny to take over the defensive position.

Finishing strong at the end of the first half, Bay City continued to pressure the Rovers in the second half creating more opportunities, whilst at the other end our defences were strong, charging down any attempt on goal.

Save of the day went to Dave B, who had to dive low to his right and managed to fingertip the ball onto the post!

Both teams were now fighting to get that all important goal and tensions were getting high, but Bay City kept their cool by holding up the ball and creating further chances.

This was a superb team effort with everyone digging in, which meant we left Sheppey with our heads held high and Range Rovers still looking for their first win of the season.

Big thank you to the stand in referee who had a tough game with two very determined teams.
