Monday 21 May 2018: Kings Hill (60+) 1 v BayCity Strollers (60+) 3

For this WFA 60+ Cup match, a trip to Kings Hill on a Monday meant we missed the BayPoint training session, but this was the only day we could fit in with player and pitch availability.

A warm welcome back to competitive football for Rob Lynn, and throughout the match he displayed his usual magnetic foot to ball control.  We started off well with a Chris Le Corney goal after 2 minutes, followed by a second a few minutes later.  We were playing some good football, with some good possession and passing moves, closing Kings Hill down quickly and restricting their chances.  Peter Cadogan had a goal disallowed for running, and we could /should have got a couple more goals, but the score at half time remained 0-2 to us.

In the second half we carried on much as before, restricting Kings Hill and causing them problems.  Jim striding purposefully down the middle added a third goal for us with his weaker left foot, and with 15 minutes to go Trevor came on for Chris.

Kings Hill had a shot that hit the post, and then with 5 minutes to go they managed to pull a goal back. This was however to no avail, as with some good passing moves, BayCity largely retained possession and Kings Hill started struggling to chase the ball.

So the game was won 3-1 to BayCity, and was a much welcomed result for us.  Roll on the next round of the cup, although with the draw being apparently on a regional basis, we suspect it might be against Herne Bay!
