Difficult to sum up today, it was a type of game we could have won comfortably, passing was good, we didn’t concede too many chances and made plenty of our own, it is easy to say we should have taken our own chances but we didn’t mainly through some good goalkeeping and to be honest a bit of bad luck. On another day we could have retired to the bar and the beer would have tasted that little bit fresher, that little bit colder, not to be.

We had a bit of an iffy start losing possession and not picking up too well and Lawrence made a good save to keep it goalless.  Maybe it was because this was our first competitive match since last year but we weren’t up to speed, gradually we improved as the half progressed and we took the lead after a nice one two with George presented Rob with the space to nicely finish in to the corner. If our passing had been crisper we could have put the game out of reach and although the pressure was constantly on we failed to get that all important second goal.

So the second half began with again some comfortable possession and chances made, we just couldn’t quite get another to give us some breathing space and eventually conceded the equaliser.  A challenge made which resulted in a fortunate deflection which set up another one two as Andy set up the Ramsgate player to score.

We pressed on to try and get the winner but it just wasn’t to be.  Although we came out with a point it left us feeling a little disappointed with an opportunity missed, full credit has to go to Ramsgate who defended really well and took the opportunity to equalise when it came.  A bit more intensity needed moving forward from the home team and I am sure we can put in a better all round performance in our next game.

A match against Ramsgate is always enjoyable and played in the right spirit of walking football, well refereed by Rob Rae.
