With BayCity sitting second in the league and Woodnesborough Seniors sitting close behind in third place this was set to be a close encounter, on paper anyway!

With less than a minute into the first half BayCity had the perfect opportunity to take the lead after a great through ball from Jason to Scott and only the keeper to beat, unfortunately Scott just couldn’t make it count with the keeper at full stretch.

It wasn’t long before the visitors were testing Glenn at the other end with a well taken free-kick shortly followed by a shot from some good play. Soon after another attack from Woodnesborough saw their attacker turn our defence and fire home a great shot, leaving Glenn with very little chance. Woodnesborough now had the better of BayCity and a long range shot from the visitors had them two nil up.

BayCity just couldn’t find an answer to the visitors who were now dominating the game with some great passing and movement. With very few opportunities for BayCity a long range shot from Phil had the visiting keeper at full stretch and tipped the ball onto the bar.

Woodnesborough were soon three nil up after another long range shot that left Glenn unsighted and no chance to get across the goal.  With only minutes to go to half time BayCity had the opportunity to pull one back through a fourth running offence, unfortunately it was a missed opportunity with the penalty going just wide of the post.

Half time three nil to the visitors.

With second half underway, BayCity still could not find any rhythm as the visitors were keeping us pinned back by their two strikers and sharp one touch football. BayCity were totally out of sorts today and just couldn’t find their feet even with substitutions made. Woodnesborough were piling on the pressure, but we managed to keep them at bay until a fourth running offence enabled them to go four nil up through a well taken penalty.

Full time, four nil to Woodnesborough which was well deserved and a big lesson for BayCity with lots to reflect on!

Next match, away to Woodchurch.

Onwards and upwards.
