We had a great turnout at Baypoint on a very wet morning, current and ex players assembled for a morning of walking football to remember our founder member Peter Cadagon and also Bob Nutter.

Peter’s family were well represented with grandsons Harry and Jack and son in law Wayne experiencing walking football for the first time.

The weather gradually improved and the football brought some good goals and tight games with Plumpys eventually coming out on top. The cup was presented to Gordon the winning skipper in the bar after a very enjoyable round of matches.

BayCity Strollers and Ramsgate came together to pay tribute to Peter and Bob and the intention is to make it an annual event. It really was an outstanding effort from everyone and with the help of the additional money raised by Nobby from previous charity tournaments held earlier in the year, we managed to raise £900 which will be donated to prostrate cancer.

Many thanks to Will for refereeing and keeping everyone under control, Baypoint for letting us have the use of the pitch free of charge and supplying the food at no cost and all the ex players for turning up and getting rather wet in the process.

Although we all love getting the chance to play football again the best thing about walking football is the new friendships and the good times we have by playing this wonderful version of the game we so much enjoy, long may it continue.
