This was BayCity’s first game against Deal who are a relatively new team finding their way into the WFL over 50’s league.

 

With Michael and Darren both carrying injuries they were sidelined for the start.

 

BayCity started off well with plenty of pressing forward with the long ball but the rain on the 4G surface meant that the ball was skidding on too much for Ian to get to.  Meanwhile, Deal was having the same problem with the ball going into touch more than they would have liked.  Despite BayCity having more of the ball and creating goal scoring opportunities the first half remained goalless.

 

With a stern team talk at half time BayCity came out stronger and managed to put some good moves together with both Ian and Ade hitting the post. The other end saw Glenn pulling off some good saves until a rebound from another save found a Deal player on the edge of the box who managed to tuck the ball away.

 

Shortly after conceding BayCity were pulled up for their fourth offence for running, so a penalty to Deal.  However, Glenn was able to pull off a great save.

 

With five minutes to go BayCity piled on the pressure and a quick one two enabled Jason to tuck the ball nicely past the keeper from the edge of the box.

 

One all the final score and all credit to Deal who gave us more of a match than we anticipated.
