At the halfway point of the season Jim has decided to take a step back from the captains roll for the over 60s team. I was hoping that the change in captain would have the ‘bounce’ effect employed by Premier League teams in times of desperation.
Well, this mirrored Spurs’ attempt to ‘bounce’.
Woodnesborough Reds are top of the table, so this was going to be a tricky game to start with.
Nobby kindly, bravely accepted our plea for a goalkeeper. Much appreciated.
Our plan was to keep it tight to start with.
5 minutes gone and 4-0 down.
We kept encouraging and were rewarded when Richie scored his second goal in as many matches. Sort of.
Towards the end of the first half we were awarded a deserved penalty for running. Martin volunteered and stepped up. He hit it hard and clean only for it to hit the goalkeepers hand and crossbar.
Half time came, not sure of the score, but a chance to change things around.
3 subs on –
Second half continued as the first, defend as best we could, practice our kick offs.
Moving forward we must keep playing with a positive attitude and try to reduce our errors and this will lead to better results.
