This was going to be by far Bay City’s biggest challenge of the season in what could be billed as a local derby!
From the off Woodnesborough meant business, and within 90 seconds they were one nil up having broke through our defence and a quick turn on the edge of the box, saw the ball heading low to Lawrences right and into the back of the net. Woodnesborough continued with their offensive attack, but we managed to hold them off and started to pile on the pressure with some good attacking play which tested the Woodnesborough keeper on several occasions.
After 15 minutes, a lucky call led to a Woodnesborough second goal, which again left Lawrence no chance of saving. Undeterred, Bay City continued to hold their nerve and gave as good as what Woodnesborough had to offer. The second half saw Bay City continue to match their more experienced opponents and pile on the pressure. Unfortunately, Bay City conceded a third goal from a shot which took a lucky deflection, sending Lawrence the wrong way. With this, Dave made a couple of substitutions, and with some fresh legs, Bay City managed to restore some pride with the goal of the match. Michael, managed to outwit a defender by intercepting a pass back to the keeper and sent the ball across the box leaving Jason to blast the ball into the back of the net, leaving the Woodnesborough keeper with no chance whatsoever.
After the match Bay City felt that they were hard done by with the final result despite a valiant team effort. This was by far the teams best match showing great signs of improvement and a team to be reckoned with going forward for the rest of the season.
A big thank you to Gordon for a great job refereeing the match.
