Well this certainly wasn’t part of the script but to be fair Woodnesborough ran out worthy winners, the score line was possibly a little unjust but the result cannot be disputed.
The first half was fairly even with the biggest difference between the two teams being that our opponents efforts on goal were mainly on target, despite some neat passing and build up play we just couldn’t work the away keeper enough.
We eventually fell behind when too much space was allowed and a thunderous finish put us one down at half time.
So in to the second half and we were playing some decent football but we fell further behind again to a good finish. Half chances came and went and as we pushed to try and get back in to the match we ultimately conceded the third.
A bit of a frustrating performance all round, first goal was important as always but after we went behind we struggled to impose ourselves. Definitely things to work on as we move forward and if we can learn from our shortcomings today that will make us a better squad.
Congratulations to Woodnesborough for their victory, the first one on the pitch against us and a big thanks to Rob Rae for refereeing.
