Monday Training Objectives and the 10 Golden Rules
Objectives
• Health and Well-being: Promote active and healthy lifestyles through regular physical activity and the health benefits of walking football.
• Social Interaction: Foster camaraderie and social interaction among team members through a friendly and supportive team environment.
• Skill Development: Develop and improve football skills, including passing accuracy, ball control, tactical awareness.
• New Player Support: Welcome and integrate new members, offering support and guidance to create an inclusive environment.
• Player Well-being: Prioritise the enjoyment of the game and the overall well-being of team members.
10 Golden Rules
1. No running – players must walk at all times, with one foot on the ground. Let the ball do the work.
2. No contact – players cannot tackle. No tackling from behind. No tackling from the side. Just stand your ground and jockey.
3. Stop running in front of players to intercept the ball. Let your opponent receive the ball.
4. Play the way you are facing – keep it simple. Keep the ball moving. The simple pass is very often the best pass.
5. Pass to feet not into space.
6. Don’t rush, take your time. Play at a comfortable pace and concentrate on building play rather
than going at full speed.
7. No running off the ball – be patient. There is no need to rush. Let the ball do the work.
8. Play 3 touch football. Focus on passing, moving and keeping possession.
9. Do not debate the referee’s decisions. Once a decision is made, accept it and move on.
10. Play with a smile on your face. Remember you are staying active playing the beautiful game at
a pace that suits you, in the company of friends. Enjoy!
