Many years ago Bay City played their first game, a friendly away to Margate, coming away with a 7-0 or 7-1 win I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong.

 

Fast forward to 2026 and we returned for an over 60’s league match with some faces from that original event still on show. Jim and myself plus Paul Lythe for Margate.

 

It was a strangely proportioned pitch being wide and short in length much like half of our team.

 

First half started well but then Margate broke through and scored.

 

Pete was the busier of the 2 goalkeepers but performed heroically making numerous saves to keep us in the game. Just before half time Margate played a through ball which Colin stepped across and intercepted, unfortunately he had stepped in the penalty area.

 

Penalty scored, halftime 2-0 down.

 

We kept going but could not create enough chances to get back in the game and Margate scored a 3rd goal.

 

Pete had continued making a string of saves to be BayCity MOM.
