Before kick off today both teams observed a minutes silence in honour of the sad passing of league official Ron Boddy, one of the driving forces in the formation of the walking football league that we all enjoy playing in so much.  We also donated our match day subs and with the kind addition from Ian with his winnings from our Fantasy Football League we raised £80 towards the British Heart Foundation.

We tried a new formation today and on the whole it worked really well, the plan was to have better possession and not play too deep with better support for our forwards.

We kicked off and kept the ball brilliantly very nearly scoring before our opponents touched the ball. We made numerous chances but ultimately went a goal down with a typically neat finish from Andy Ridler.

The response from us was pretty immediate with pressure on the home defence resulting in a penalty conceded when a defender encroached in the area, Les stepped up and tucked the ball in to the corner sending the keeper the wrong way. This really got us going and the Ramsgate keeper made several smart saves before Les added his second and Rob made it three one at half time.

The second half was reasonably comfortable with Les completing his hat trick and Rob getting his second.

Lawrence was his ever reliable self making some good saves when called upon. We defended well with the midfield working hard to close down, finding space to attack and support George and Les who combined together with the promise of building up a good understanding.

To sum up a very good all round performance from the whole squad, a few things to work on but with plenty of practice we can be better.

It is always a pleasure to play the Ramsgate boys with the match played in a good spirit and a big thank you to Tony Old stepping in at the last minute to referee.
