This was another solid team performance against a team who are not to be taken lightly despite being bottom of the league.

With Paul, Pete and Patrick missing this week Bay City were still able to put a strong team and we soon had our opponents on the back foot with some good attacking moves, with Michael threatening their goal after a few minutes and forcing their keeper to tip the ball over the bar.  As we kept our momentum going Jason was soon on the score sheet with a long and low powerful shot that left the keeper with no chance of saving.

Although Ethelbert were putting together some good passing moves Bay City were standing their ground which was forcing their opponents to lose the ball.  It was now Dave’s turn to get on the score sheet with a long range shot from his own half which left their keeper no time to move.  Bay City continued to press with Phil and Ade playing some good football between them.  2 – 0 to Bay City at half time.

Bay City came out for the second half and continued to pressure their opponents but just couldn’t keep their shots on target despite some excellent football.  Once again Jason was on hand to put us three nil up with another good move and a well taken goal.  Subs were then made with Jim and Stuart coming on for the last ten minutes.  Stuart was soon on the scoresheet with a well composed long range shot that kept low and wide of their keeper.

Despite being four goals down Ethelbert continued to press which soon paid off after a soft defensive back pass to Lawrence saw their striker intercept and nudge the ball into the net which meant no clean sheet unfortunately.

4 – 1 the final score, which was well deserved and once again Bay City showed further progress towards building a solid over 50’s men’s team.  With two tough games left in our first season Bay City are holding their heads high.

Man of the match goes to Phil who played some excellent football today with some good one two’s and passing play despite their being no prawn sandwiches on offer; come to think of it, there weren’t any sandwiches on offer at all.

Thanks again to Chris Smith who refereed the game really well.
