It was great to have Paul back in the squad and he put in a strong second half performance defensively keeping his man quiet.

We played the return fixture against one of our stronger league opponents on a pitch with unusual dimensions that we always seem to struggle with.

The idea of it being a friendly soon vanished (like the chips) as Les was clobbered in the first minute from behind, not the first of the night to go unpunished.

We didn’t start too well and quickly went behind, as the half went on we started to dominate with George holding the ball up well but unfortunately all of our attempts on goal were mainly straight at the keeper.

Second half started and we came in to our own with George setting up Kevin for a thunderous equaliser in off the post with the home keeper wondering what just flew past him. The over aggressive style of the home team continued with the referee doing nothing to stop it. Up stepped Toony to try and even things up after Chris had been bundled over, this seemed to get the man with the whistle’s attention and a ticking off ensued. We then took the lead with Kevin winning possession and squaring for George to coolly finish.  After this Chris had a great effort well saved as we took control of proceedings. Unfortunately we conceded the equaliser on the break as we looked to get our third of the night.

On the whole a good performance with us trying out a few different playing positions which will be invaluable for the coming season, special mention to Gordon in the second half playing the central defensive role.

A rumour did briefly circulate about a mini game after the full time whistle taking place but as this was not visible from the pub this cannot be confirmed or indeed denied.
