After the lively encounter with Woodchurch earlier this week, sadly, there were no fireworks with our home game against Range Rovers today!

Fielding a full squad BayCity were looking good on paper and started well with both teams keeping a low tempo. However, dare I say it again, BayCity went one nil down early in the match through a long range shot that beat Lawrence who had been partially blinded by the sun.  Both teams continued to play well but Range Rovers managed to beat Lawrence again after 10 minutes. Although two down Baycity continued to put pressure on their opponents and Peter managed to pull one back before halftime.

All in all a good first half for both sides.

Having made a few substitutions at halftime BayCity were soon on the back foot with Range Rovers scoring a third 30 seconds in as a result of some sloppy passing. This was sadly going to be the story of the second half for BayCity as we continued to produce some very poor passes and some lapse defending which resulted in Range Rovers going 5 – 1 up. With further subs made BayCity just couldn’t find an answer and a late penalty made it 6 – 1.

Despite letting in six goals today which were mainly due to poor passing, Lawrence made some extremely good saves. It has to be said that the game was played in a good spirit with very few offences committed by either side; there were literally 2 or 3 running offences during the whole game which was very well refereed by Rob Rae.

All credit to Range Rovers who showed great sportsmanship and said after the match that the score line didn’t do us justice as we were very strong opponents.
